BIG MOUNTAIN - WATERFALL - MR.C'S LOOP

Weather: Hot, but shade on the mountain, some breeze.
Hash Cash: 1pm run fees Bull Ant, Secs @ Mr. C’s Speakeasy, 3b Lê Ngọc Hân, Ward 1.
Total Hashers: 29
Trail:  Chalk talk by Secs then walked up Le Ngoc Han to Hem 105 and up steps/slope to Vi Ba. Turned right and followed red eco tapes for ~100 metres then left up off-road track at the former M90 factory. Continued up the lower mountain track and turned left before powerlines. Followed a dirt track around to the left then down a rocky slope to plateau crossroads and turned right along the waterfall trail to emerge near the top of Vi Ba. Turned left and down past army camp and nuoc mia stalls to distinctive yellow Bodharama temple entrance then around to left and 89 steps down to affluent residential area and downhill to Tran Phu. Turned left for several hundred metres then left again behind ‘DoubleTree by Hilton’ construction site and back to the start point for Down Down. Total distance ~5 km.
Highlights: Views over Vung Tau city. Views over Ganh Rai Bay during descent of Big Mountain. 
Down Down: Mr. C’s Speakeast, 3b Le Ngoc Han.
Refreshments: Randy’s hotdogs grilled on the BBQ with home baked roll, Water melon slices, pineapple chunks. Bia Saigon, Revive, softies, mineral water.
Circle: No circle this week.

LONG HAI MOUNTAINS- ĐỘNG NON TIÊN TEMPLE FROM PHƯỚC HƯNG-PHƯỚC HẢI ROAD

Weather: Overcast, warm, no rain.

Total Hashers: 31
Trail: Hashmobile took the Phước Hưng-Phước Hải Road, the opposite side of the Long Hải mountain range. Disembarked at the end of a farm road where Secs delivered the chalk talk: Follow the jungle trail up the mountain until red ribbons indicate a right turn that will lead to Động non Tiên temple. After the temple look for the many concrete steps that will lead down the mountain. At the bottom follow the red ribbons back to Ngọc Xương resort. Total distance ~  3km.
Highlights: Panoramic views and intricate shrines at Động non Tiên pagoda and lookout rocks on Hon Dung peak.
Down Down: Ngoc Xuong eco-tourism resort, group 6/70, Hai Binh hamlet, Long Hai (near mountain end of 3 February Street).
Refreshments: Ms.Kim’s delicious Pate so and coffee cake. Watermelon slices, pineapple chunks. Saigon Bia, Revive, softies, mineral water.
Circle: Trail rated 10, 10/10. “Great”, “Very interesting”. Hares Secs, Chippy, Bull Ant applauded. Virgins: Nhung from Vung Tau; Returnees: Banh Xeo (busy), Thuy Cashier, Tham and Lobster(visiting from Australia) welcomed back

NUI DINH - GREEN LAKE TRAIL

Weather: Hot! Occasional breeze
Hash Cash: 1pm run fees Bull Ant, Secs @ Mr C’s Speakeasy, 3b Lê Ngọc Hân, Ward 1.
Total Hashers: 37
Trail: Hashmobile climbed to the top of Núi Dinh Road and then took the asphalt lane on the right next to Chùa Diệu Linh temple. Disembarked at Quán cô Hường coffee shop next to a lake. Chalk talk by Secs: simple trail, follow the red ribbons through the flat jungle path for 2km until the path starts to ascend, continue until reaching the top of the mountain. Enjoy the breeze and the view and then come back down the same way being careful of the dry scree and leaves that can be slippery. Once at the bottom out for red ribbons indicating a right turn and follow the ribbons back to complete a loop to Quán cô Hường.
Total distance ~5-6km.
Highlights: Revisited trail that we haven’t been to in several years, welcome breeze and panoramic views at the top of the mountain. 
Down Down: First time having the down-down at Quán cô Hường next to the lake. Very pleasant
Refreshments: Ms. Kim excelled herself with delicious Banh mi and coffee cake. The usual watermelon slices, pineapple chunks. Saigon Bia, Revive, softies, mineral water.
Circle: Trail rated 8.5, 11.5/10, “Very enjoyable”, . Hares Secs, Bull Ant, Chippy applauded. Hash Virgins Ms. Kate and her two kids from HCMC were introduced. Returnees welcomed back: Nancy Kieu, Dennis, Carrot and Selena also from HCMC

NUI DINH - BỒNG LAI QUÁN 2

Weather: Hot, light breeze

Trail: Dismounted Hashmobile outside former swimming pool café (Bồng Lai Quán), which is now a new cool looking coffee shop called Cafe Thảo Nguyên. Chalk talk by Secs. Walked approx. 1 km up sealed Nui Dinh road and turned left onto Di Da Son pagoda access track about 50 metres before steps down to Fairy Stream. Eventually reached pagoda grounds and viewed many religious artefacts before continuing on a fairly dense jungle trail, mostly downhill over dry dead leaves and scree . Finally reached ground level and Bồng Lai Quán 2 with its picturesque lake and restaurant (when not raining!), operated by former swimming pool café management. Total distance ~4km.
Highlights: Picturesque artefacts at Di Da Son pagoda. New Down Down venue Bong Lai Quan 2.
Down Down: Bong Lai Quan lake and restaurant, Nui Dinh street level.
Refreshments: Noodles with egg. Watermelon slices, pineapple chunks. Saigon Bia, Revive, softies, mineral water.
Circle: Trail rated 8.5, 11.5/10, “Very enjoyable” Hares Secs, Bull Ant, Chippy applauded. Hash Virgins Nhung (Vung Tau) introduced. Baptismal sprinkles by Bishop. Visitors/Returnees welcomed: Murph Diver (Ireland (been stuck in Ireland since covid); Luk Chat from Penang Hash
