NÚI DINH - HELICOPTER TRAIL
Hares: Secs, Chippy (live trail)
Hash Flashers: Secs (group photo), Chippy Asset Wrangler: Chook Ringmaster: David Choirmaster: Uncle Report: Uncle
Weather: Sunshine, scattered cloud, no rain.
Hash Cash: 1pm run fees Secs, Chom Chom @ Mr C’s Speakeasy, 3b Lê Ngọc Hân, Ward 1. Total Hashers: 25 Trail: Dismounted Hashmobile at roadside camping ground opposite sugar cane seller’s hammock rest area at entry to monastery access road approx. midway between bridge and ‘old’ lake. Larger than usual Hash Lite group continued towards old lake and main group walked ~500 metres along sealed monastery access road for Chalk Talk by Secs, then into the jungle. We followed Hares and marker tapes along rock-strewn, duff-covered ascent (long climb and many large boulders near the top: so frequent rests for most, but not overly difficult). Finally gathered on lookout rocks with marked compass bearings from wartime helipad activity. Many photos and panoramic views then steep, rock-strewn descent through often dense bamboo canopy and several shallow stream beds to street level, past monastery then followed sealed access road back to start point (A-A). Total distance ~4km. Highlights: Ideal Hashing weather. Young entrepreneur selling welcome drinks at helipad rock. Circle format tweaked to include Ringmaster supported by Choirmaster and Baptismal sprinkles. Down Down: Camping grounds between bridge and lake opposite monastery access road. Refreshments: ‘Bun thit nen nuong’ (bbq pork, vermicelli, peanuts, fish sauce). Water melon slices, pineapple chunks, and tasty coffee cake courtesy Ms Kim. Bia Saigon, Revive, softies, mineral water. Circle: Trail rated 10,10/10. “Difficult at times, but good”, Hares Secs and Chippy applauded. Hash Virgins Mr Ha and Ms Mai (HCMC), and Visitors Junior Hasher Playboy Nomad and mum Top Muffin (Nha Trang Hash) introduced and welcomed. Next week: Watch this space, Zalo, facebook page @VungTauHHH and direct emails for details of next week’s run. If anyone would like to help set trails, please volunteer at registration. PLEASE REMEMBER: Hashmobile seats allocated in order of registration but CAN’T BE GUARANTEED if booked less than 24 hours before run start. Also PLEASE CANCEL YOUR REGISTRATION if unable to attend, so mismanagement can adjust/re-allocate seating and/or refreshments. “On On”
