Trail: Own transport and Grab to 18 Hai Dang (Lighthouse road on Small mountain). Chalk talk by Secs (edited). “Walk few metres to 5A (opposite View Hotel) and down many flights of narrow concrete steps through residential area with barking dogs. Right onto Phan Bội Châu, then ~100m to Hem 30, Đinh Tiên Hoàng and Ngoc Huong pagoda (Tịnh xá Ngọc Hương). Up many steps past picturesque shrines, large reclining buddha in the Upper Hall Pure Temple and ‘happy buddha’ at exit; left on Hai Dang then follow red marker tapes into jungle.“Dirt trail past old French bunkers and gun emplacements then exit and continue up Hai Dang and repeat: into jungle, past bunkers and gun emplacements, exit onto Hai Dang.“Continue past Café Hai Dang Xa and long walk on sealed road, around tight hairpin bend then through hole in the fence, around a small shrine and down 300+ steps to Chùa Hải Vân (Hai Van pagoda, 74 Ha Long). Walk down through several levels then exit, right on Ha Long and back to Small Mountain past former ferry area, Lucy’s, Bayview, Highlands Coffee, etc then around onto Hai Dang and up to Down Down at #18. Total distance ~4 km.”
