Weather: Scattered high cloud, still air, no rain.
Hash Cash: 11 am run fees, Secs and Chom Chom @ Mr. C’s Speakeasy, 3b Lê Ngọc Hân, Ward 1.
Total Hashers: 36
Trail: Magnificent Núi Thị Vải slightly further out than normal hence an earlier start of 11am. Disembark at the entrance to Chùa Linh Sơn Bửu Thiền Temple Complex and next to coffee shop where down-down will be. Chief Stoker gave the chalk talk; approximately 5km trail starting with a short walk down the road and then turning left into a small hem. This then led us to some dilapidated steps that would lead us into the ancient bamboo forest and a very steep climb to the top of the mountain. Once reaching the summit continue on to the back entrance of the temple and then down 1200 steps back to the beginning.
Highlights: Friendly monks at the summit. Spectacular views from 467m above sea level. Ornate Chùa Linh Sơn Bửu Thiền Temple Complex
Down Down: Coffee shop next to temple
Refreshments: Saigon Beer, water, softies; pork noodles, pizza rolls (courtesy of Ms. Kim) ; water melon, pineapple.
Circle: This marked Soggy Bottom’s inaugural circle who, on short notice, handled it with aplomb. The trail was rated and our Hares were given a massive 150/10! Next was the virgins, this week we had 5 all from Vietnam; Dung, Giang, ⁠⁠An, Sơn Tùng, Nhật Hoàng. The VTH3 song was sung to welcome them and Chief Stoker baptised them with the customary sprinkles of water. Next up were the returnees; we were pleased to see Viking return after spending the last 6 years back in his home country. Viking, a stalwart Hasher who had completed more than 200 runs when he was based in Vung Tau. We also welcomed back Ms. Mỹ Lệ another avid Hasher and Royce from South Africa.
