HOÀ BÌNH WATERFALLS
Hares: Chippy, Chief Stoker, Jolly
Hash Flashers: Chippy, Secs Ringmaster: David Report: Secs with thanks to Uncle
Weather: Sunny, warm and breezy
Hash Cash: Early start for longer distance to travel - 11 am run fees Chom Chom, Secs @ Mr. C’s Speakeasy, 3b Lê Ngọc Hân, Ward 1 Total Hashers: 28 Trail: After the early start, we dismounted approx. 90 mins later at the Ray River Irrigation Project dam via Ba Ria and Xuyen Moc, approx 4.5 km (and a lot of deep, fast-flowing water) from our Down Down destination: Thác chính Hoà Bình (Hoa Binh main waterfall). Chalk talk by Chief Stoker, then over the locked gate and mid-way across the overpass we descended 92 steps, helped each other down a makeshift ladder (an old branch), then followed red tapes mostly alongside the Ray River, negotiating a series of obstacles including lower-leg-shredding undergrowth, a new rickety bridge made for oil drums, barbed wire fences, some slippery rocks at the river crossing to the Hoa Binh eco park main waterfall and picnic/camping grounds. Highlights: Helping each other cross the river over the slippery rocks. Swimming in the eco park waterfalls: Junior Hashers and several ‘not so junior’ really enjoyed it (some had practised along the trail already!). Special interest: The Ray River (Sông Ray) starts at Xuan Loc mountain in Dong Nai province, runs through BR-VT’s Dat Do, Long Dien and Xuyen Moc districts and flows into the ocean through Loc An estuary. It plays an important role in supplying water for domestic use and agricultural production of BR-VT province, managed by the Ray River Irrigation Project. Down Down: Thác chính Hoà Bình Mongolian Glamping.Refreshments: Bahn Mi, Ms. Kim’s coffee cake, watermelon slices, pineapple chunks. Bia Saigon, Revive, softies, mineral water. Circle: Everyone congratulated for their willingness to help others on an unusually challenging trail. Trail rated 10/10: “Challenging, interesting, different”. Hares Chippy, Chief Stoker, Jolly applauded. Two returnees - mother and son Mary and Minh who had been busy studying. On on on: Mr C’s Speakeasy. Next week: Watch this space, Zalo, facebook page @VungTauHHH and direct emails for details of next week’s run. PLEASE REMEMBER: We can all help to keep run fees as low as possible by cancelling registration if suddenly unable to attend (mismanagement can then adjust transport and/or food and drinks if necessary). “On On”
