A SUMMARY OF MISMANAGEMENT
- the "backbone" of any Hash kennel
- the "backbone" of any Hash kennel
No self-respecting Hasher wants to be part of (or run by) a "committee"; so those stalwarts inclined to spend the most time and energy making sure "everything will be OK on the day", are instead known as "Mismanagement" - also at least partly because it's the most accurate description of how things actually happen!
Below is a brief rundown, in no particular order, of the main tasks required to keep things moving along (in VTH3, at least) from week to week - with "Mismanagement" usually being ably assisted by voluntary or co-opted helpers from time to time as required.
There is far more detail available for each of these tasks, and in this selection of drop-down menus (under "Hashing with VTH3") we've highlighted (segregated?) the two most important roles in any Hash: Hares and Hounds (for that is, after all, the exercise model upon which the entire worldwide Hash movement was originally founded). For more detail about the other tasks that need to be done each week, please go to "To be anything else".
It's also worth noting here that while The Circle can and often does make decisions "on the day for the day", only a majority (or occasionally unanimous) vote by Mismanagement can make and/or change the rules by which VTH3 operates - because each Circle is a once-off for that day only, whereas Mismanagement is elected by the members to provide ongoing consistency and continuity in not only the rules but interpretation of the rules. A solid Mismanagement bloc is also a safeguard against takeover attempts by rogue former Hashers, "Johnny come latelies" - or anyone else who may not have the welfare of VTH3 uppermost in their heart!
