GM: Basil Hares: Faulty Brakes, Basil. Live Hares: Ronald Reagan, Mr. T Hash Flash: Hung Report: Basil With Mid Autumn coming on Friday, many Hashers decided that they forget the Season and join the Hash Run on Sunday, now that’s dedication! We all waiting for the Bus, but unlike Hashers, the bus drivers got to enjoy their season with family and doing charity, but Only 1 driver make the Hash Run happen, even on his holiday. We finally got to Long Son Island at 3:40 P.M. With not much time left, we got help from Lives Hares Ronald Reagan and Mr. T to help Hare Faulty Brakes and Basil. One returnee and regular Hasher manage to get themselves lost and had to call Basil for help, which he is far behind. But we all made it to the top. The walkie-talkie safely in hands of the Hare Mr.T, but with accidentally transmission from the Taxi Drivers and Restaurant alike, Hare Mr. T show them his opinion on his walkie-talkie or he wouldn’t be called Mr. T! We all make it through the market and to the bus, the bus taking us to our familiar Down Down near the beautiful Lake, sadly the time of beautiful Sunset was gone as now is 5:00 P.M. We all wait for Hare Basil and Faulty Brakes make their appearance at the Down Down. We make our group photo and on to the Circle called by GM Basil. With Hares Ronald Reagan, Mr. T, Faulty Brakes and Basil, Gopi was called to rate the trail and he give 9/10 for a very good trail and effort of the Hares, So Down Down they go. Virgins Ms Minh, Ms Thuy, Ms Hanh, Ms Lieu, Ms Thuan was introduce by their friends Returnee Ms Lieu, Ms Thanh and Ms Chuyen, except Ms Thuy who saw the Hash while she was at SB4 for coffee and talk to one of the Hashers, she decided to join this week’s run. And Returnees Ms Lieu, Ms Thanh, Ms Chuyen, SID (“Shines In the Dark”!), Shaun and Maria (UXO’s sister) with excuse are Working, Holiday and Lazy. Sinners, for those who got lost when they are regular Hasher. Hung, Ronald Reagan, and Ms Thanh for inappropriate shoes. We ended the Circle as darkness approached, and return back to the bus to have the sing and drink party on the bus as we go back home to mark another chapter for Hashers. Announcement to some people are concern for not receive a Run Reminder email last week, check the website regularly ( http://www.vungtauhash.com NEXT RUN ) because On Sec/Scribe/Hash Geek is busy in Australia for next few months and no time to send emails every week. If anyone would volunteer to send emails (250 each time) and manage the website, please talk to Basil on Sunday. Additional photos: Rita, Titanic Foodies: Nearly everyone! Report: Uncle, Basil The skies were bright and sunny as a near-record 49 Hashers left Sao Bien 4 and crossed Tran Phu heading for Hem 89 residential steps to Vi Ba - most having already deposited their food (and drink!) contributions at "Anti's Kitchen" in preparation for celebrating our 700th run. The Chalk Talk was held just past the pagoda on the left, then it was "on up" the side of Big Mountain on a track that's familiar to many of the more experienced Hashers. We finally reached the "plateau crossroads" a little leg-weary but unbowed, and turned sharp left to go around the mountainside, in search of the elusive waterfall. Alas, there were some spectacular views over Small Mountain and Vung Tau Front Beach, but the lack of rain foiled us once again with the waterfall - we'll need to do this trail much earlier in the rainy season in future! We emerged near the top of Vi Ba and turned left to head down to the "water stop" at the coffee shop outside the Army camp (well most of us did, but we discovered later that one new Hasher had mistakenly followed some exercising locals to the top of the road before realising his error!). Many "nuoc mia's" later, we headed off down the road and then over the side and through the White House (tourist attraction) before crossing Tran Phu back into Sao Bien 4 - where lots of ice-cold drinks awaited! Ringmaster SamSon called the Circle and forgot about rating the trail in all the excitement (let's assume it would have been a 9 or 10, with possible demerits for absence of a waterfall!). Instead, we welcomed what must be a record number of Hash Virgins: Ross, Ella, Duong, Denis, Willis, Ivan, Nelly, Valentina and Marcia. An equally impressive number of returnees were also welcomed back: Dracula, Catwoman, Peach Melba, Superteen, Space Cadet, Michael, Dolly and Kojak. The Circle then acknowledged some of the volunteers who have given so much of their time to keep the Hash "ticking over" since Faulty Brakes, Uncle and Anti re-started it four and a half years ago. Not all were present at run 700, of course, but their contributions were still recognised by the Circle. Then SamSon explained that Uncle and Anti are heading back to Australia this week and "handing over the Mismanagement reins" to Basil and his team (who are still looking for more volunteers). FB presented Anti with a lovely bouquet of flowers, and they were both given a large framed "team photo" and signed album of Hash photos to help the reminiscing (although Uncle confided later that they hope to return next year and start enjoying the Hash on a "pay your money and run" basis, rather than being so heavily involved with mismanagement). And then it was time for eating, drinking and making merry with the party games courtesy of the "fun & games sub-committee" and helpers, including Blackhawk, Peach Melba and Rita ("supergran") - which continued until well after dark, interrupted only briefly for the lighting of candles on the magnificent "700 runs" cake (see photo gallery) and cutting of same. Everyone had such an enjoyable time that more "mundane" questions like 'who's going to set next week's trail?' were completely overlooked - but details will appear as always in the NEXT RUN box on this website (home page) when known. Regardless of trail location, we'll meet next Sunday, as usual, at Sao Bien 4 restaurant: 2 pm for 2.30 pm start - in any weather! On On! VTH3 #700 PHOTO GALLERY > > >

Circle photos: Gopi (Raja) Foodie: Mother Teresa Report: Basil, Uncle The weather gods were kind to us again, with a cool, overcast sky greeting our merry band of Hashers as we dismounted from the Hashmobile at the Seaview apartments. We went through the main residential area as a group, emerging the other side to see FRB Terminator vanishing into the distance! The “water jump” detour wasn’t needed, as the expected “lake” was now just a muddy patch because we seem to have had most of the rain for this wet season; however, the mud still claimed “Supergran” Rita, whose long legs weren’t quite long enough to reach the other side! The highway was crossed without incident, after little Oopso had paid his respects to the local kids who were once again impressed with his blond hair and blue eyes! And so it was through the local countryside to see the bus parked near the fishing village, with bright red eskies “gleaming” in the distance. Mother Teresa had provided delicious Russian snacks, which were washed down with “silver and gold” San Migs, courtesy of our generous sponsor. Duty Ringmaster SamSon called the Circle when the swimmers had returned and asked for volunteers to rate the trail. Hare Uncle provided a novel shortcut by asking Ms Thuan’s young daughter Tu if she enjoyed the trail, then translating her “Yes” answer into a perfect score: 10/10! Two Hash Virgins and their “sponsors” were introduced: Evgeny (Mapdraw) and Mr Hoa (SamSon); then returnees Terminator, Mother Teresa, Titanic, D&G and Ms Thuan were welcomed back. Several “sinners” were charged, including Supergran Rita for trailing a leg in the muddy “water crossing” and Uncle, who somehow managed to charge himself to gain a free Down Down served up by hard-working beermeisters Ronald Reagan and Misty! Paul and Gopi were brought into the Circle for Hash names, resulting in Shakespeare (“Shaky”) for writer Paul and “Raja” for Gopi (we think something was lost in translation here, because he was supposed to get a Russian name!). Then Uncle explained that next week’s run has been re-numbered to become 700, with the after-party following the Circle at Sao Bien 4, and everyone’s invited to “bring a plate” of their favourite food to share around. A cake, beer, soft drinks and some food will be provided by mismanagement, and a “games” sub-committee will do their best to ensure lots of fun for everyone! Uncle and Faulty Brakes will set the popular “waterfall” trail on Big Mountain, with everyone hoping for rain this week so we can enjoy more than a dribble of water down the mountainside! We’ll meet at Sao Bien 4 on Sunday, 2 pm for 2.30 pm start – in any weather! (All food can be put on ice until we get back from the trail.) On On! VTH3 #698 PHOTO GALLERY > > >
