Additional Photos: Radio Wave Ring Master: SamSon Report: Basil - Weather forecast today was mild and no rain, with lot of wind and cloud cover. The Sunday Hashers happy to see the cool weather back again, despite in the previous month of hot weather. - Hare Basil lead 24 Hashers to Vi Ba street. - Basil told where to start, a full circle long trail, but easy to conquer, advice is Hasher must always shout “On On” not only to keep everyone on trail but also to scare away any “cold blood creature”. - After the Chalk-Talk, then it was “On On” to the Pagoda, Radio Wave rushes in front to get a good photo of Hashers. Long Wave afraid his dad might jump out from the bushes to get a good picture! - Hashers Mowgli and Florin speed up to lead, but when entered the pagoda, not much red tape and they were soon confused. Hare Basil wished to lead but they again speed ahead and almost go the wrong way (we are not allowed to use trail markers inside pagodas). - Half way along the trail, Radio Wave was coming last, because he change his camera lens to counter photographers’ mortal enemy, “Light Reflection”. On the way to the promised water stream, Peter and Basil demonstrate their “flying” by jumping down the rock, the moment was captured by Radio Wave (see links to RW's photos below). - Finally the promised water stream has become small again after 2 days no rain, different from when the Hares set the trail. - We coming out of the forest and arrive at the familiar broken road to Vi Ba. Relieved Hashers stroll down the road and the wind reward us with cool breeze. - Rajah and Basil enjoy the Sugar Cane drinks with Viking, Tiger, Ms Minh and Ms Chuyen. Basil notice the trail down to Ganh Hao restaurant has been blocked by many fallen tree, someone already chop them down. - We all get down to Le Loi street and coming to M. ‘Arry and Ice Water’s Petanque Café Bi Sắt at 12 Hung Vuong street, and our cool eskies filled with ice and San Miguel Beer are waiting there. - While we enjoy the Beer, Basil joke with Shaky regarding an American movie “Back to the Future: Part 2” that in 2015, we had flying cars but we are still nowhere getting it developed! - After the Group Photo, Ring Master SamSon called out the Hares who set the trail, Faulty Brakes, Basil and Ms Brittany who unfortunately can’t join us because of her teaching class. SamSon called Mowgli to rate the Trail. “Long trail and Normal difficulty, but some red marker tape missing along the trail”. He gives the Hares 9.9/10, but SamSon just give them 9/10. - We couldn’t find Shaky’s Hash Virgin friend so we move on to the Returnees. Ms Vy from last year has return with us, Radio Wave’s daughter Short Wave is “back online”, also Viking, Ms Thanh and Ms Chuyen who SamSon didn’t see last week! - Sinners were called so Basil and Shaky volunteer because Hasher Paul and daughter Asa had register for the Hash but they were not present at the Chalk Talk, so they go off somewhere because the trail might be too hard for his daughter. Shaky, who bring his Hash Virgin friend Falco, didn’t guide him to the Down Down but allow him to go home! - Hash Tag is given to our Korean Hasher Peter. While “Psy” from Gang Nam style was easy to remember, his name is “Peter” so Basil added “Pan” which everybody agree: “Peter Pan” the boy who never grew up. Here’s to “Peter”, he's a true “Pan”! - Announcement at the Circle, that some Hashers remember Hashers Ice Water and Monsieur ’Arry. They are owners of our Down Down Petanque Café Bi Sắt and Ring Master asked the Circle to vote if we should choose to move our SB4 HQ to make Petanque Café Bi Sắt our new HQ. Which 22 Hashers agree over 2. - Also announcement about a Charity “Red Dress Run” for Christmas. While we have not yet decided where we will have the run, all suggestions to Mismanagement team who will evaluate them. Voluntary charity donations will start at next week’s run. - Next week’s run will be on Dinh Mountain (“Nui Dinh”) and confirmed Hare is SamSon, with co-Hares confirmed as Shaky and Brittany. - We'll meet on Sunday at our new HQ, Petanque Café Bi Sắt, 12 Hung Vuong Street: 2 pm for 2.30 pm start - in any weather! Hares: Faulty Brakes, Basil Hash Flash: Ferrari. Additional photos: Radio Wave Ringmaster: SamSon Report: Faulty Brakes, Basil, Uncle Weather overcast, rain threatened but did not materialise. Taxis to Hem 444, chalk talk by Faulty Brakes, then up the road past the French cannon battery so popular with tourists, and the ‘underground torpedo’ station. Through the village with its usual array of happy, laughing children, then along the bush track enjoying views on both sides of Big Mountain – shipyards on our left and Tran Phu and the bay to the right. We continued on the track until the red arrow pointed the way down to Hem 198. Some missed the turn-off but still managed to find their way to Ice Water’s Petanque venue: Café Bi sắt. Duty Ring Master SamSon called the Circle and Ivan rated the trail 8/10. Three hash virgins were introduced: Mowgli's friend Florin from Romania; Tiger's friend and Vung Tau “local”, Vuong; and Ms Nhan's "spirited" friend Ms Oanh - who decided her Down Down looked better on the Ring Master's head than her own! Returnees and VTH3 stalwarts Mowgli and Blackhawk were welcomed back, and various Sinners “punished” for alleged “misdeeds” - including Faulty Brakes who gave a "faultless" demonstration of "tube slurping" before the Circle degenerated into yet another "splashing" contest! We all enjoyed the new Down Down location at Café Bi sắt, with some of the younger set trying their hand at Petanque (google it!). Owner Ice Water then announced a French-style barbecue starting at 7 pm on Friday. Cost is a low 70k VND and all Hashers and friends are encouraged to support the event. Mother Teresa also announced that her birthday party will take place at the Down Down on Sunday, 8 November (run #706) in the Russian Beach Club. She will organise a trail on that day. Next week’s trail will include the popular “waterfall” on Big Mountain, and will be set by Basil, Faulty Brakes and "apprentice Hare, Brittany". Hares: Samson, Shaky, Ms Nhan Hash Flash: Misty, Hung. Additional photos: Radio Wave Ringmaster: SamSon Report: Basil - Hashers all meet at the Sao Bien 4, The Bus arrive on time, but the ice isn’t. While waiting for the Ice Guy, we are introduced to New Hash Virgins, Russian family of 3 and Brittany from Canada. - Finally the ice arrives in the nick of time. We empty the Ice in the Eskies and headed to today's exciting run in Long Hai mountains. - On the way, Faulty Brakes led the bus to Ice Water’s new café and tell everyone that this new Café will be next week's Down Down, because he afraid not many people know it so he need to show it beforehand. - The Bus run smoothly to Long Hai and weather is hot. We stop at the Village Entrance because the bus was too big to travel inside the village, Hare SamSon led everyone for a walk toward the starting point. - He told everyone that this trail is long and worth it because we start in Long Hai but end in Minh Dam secret zone, a secret of the mountain that SamSon promise to make happen today. - After the Chalk-Talk, then it was “On On” Up the Stairs, Radio Wave waste no time and spot a river near the stairs and took a shot with his trusty camera. - After the stairs, we make it to the house and turn right to head to Minh Dam secret zone. It is here that every one start to feel sweaty, Hash Flash Misty almost drop the Camera because of the sweat. - Korean Hasher Peter asked who set this trail and promise that he will rate this trail by his sweat! - We made it to the Temple up the mountain and Hashers admire the view, but Hare SamSon tell that this isn’t the only view spot he and others find, the trail led deep in the forest and up the mountain with promise of a view worth “millions”! - When we arrive at the True Top of the mountain, the caretaker of the temple offer us some of his fresh water stream that he collected and boil it to perfection, Hashers surprise to find it taste different than normal water. - And of course, the promised view worth "Millions" on top the temple, Hashers take lots of pictures of this place like no tomorrow because no words can ever describe it beauty. - Finally, we arrive at Minh Dam secret zone and the bus was there with cold San Miguel to reward us, we feel like being pampered rather than exercise. - We quickly quench our thirst, a group photo, and Ring Master Samson start the Circle before it gets dark. - SamSon called out the Hares who set the trail, Shaky, Ms Nhan and himself in the Circle and Radio Wave was nominated to rate the Trail. "An excellent, long, up and down trail", He gives the Hares 9/10, in which Mother Teresa comment in Russian that Radio Wave should do a second run back because he is taller than her. - Ring Master invite the Virgin Family, Ivan, Daria and daughter Kate from Russia, introduced by Mother Teresa. Brittany from Canada, by collecting a Hash card from WTF, she contacted Uncle and come here for this run and she likes it. Welcome Virgins! - Returnees, Radio Wave, wife Hi-Fi, and son Short Wave all “fully back online” and Live Wire and Ms Giang because Ring Master didn’t see them last week. With no excuse given, Returnee wears the Hash tube on the elbow and drinks the beer cup as punishment. - Sinner Peter because he was in the last group and Rajah for pointing Peter out which means he also in last group. Here’s to the Sinners! - Hash Tag is given to Mr Hung, and Short Wave. Mr Hung was given the name “Ferrari” as in Italian Car, by Faulty Brakes because Hung likes cars and is energetic. Short Wave, before was a short little boy, but now is as tall as Radio Wave, so he shall be known as “Long Wave”. - Finally, we thank the foodies, Mother Teresa, D&G and Titanic for sharing with us their food. - Announcement that with no reminder emails, Hashers should know that we all go to SB4 every Sunday and next week's trail will be known as “Mysterious Trail”. Additional photos: Kojak, Ak Bars Report: Basil Hashers all gathered at SB4 on Sunday even though the weather is promising rain fall, Hare Faulty Brakes and Samson carry eskies to the Down Down at 102 Tran Phu street, after that Hasher board the Taxis and carries all to the Starting point in Tran Xuan Do street. When the Taxis arrive, the rain started to fall heavy. Luckily, nearby home owner open the house gate to let 23 Hashers in to avoid the rain. While patiently waiting the rain to stop, the water accumulated on the mountain and coming down the street like a river stream, some water almost got in the house. The rain eventually lifted and Hare Faulty Brakes led the group while Basil help at the back, make sure everyone not fall down because of slippery cement road and water combined. We go through the village and greeted by dogs barking, we went up to the mountain and discover a horse running around the trail that Hares set. With no idea how it got here but a horse running around is dangerous, we try to avoid it and it seems our trail has been blocked by a single horse, Hashers find another alternative, short and safe way to go to the mountain, and we finally back on track of the trail. We reach the temple ground after a slippery 600 steps down the mountain, Hash Virgin found Longan trees and ask permission from the Devotee to have some of the fruit. We finally reach the Down Down early because of the unfortunate Horse Traffic. After few San Miguel refreshment, duty Ringmaster SamSon called the circle. First the Hares Faulty Brakes and Basil: “Rajah” rated the trail 9/10 because the weather and horse running. Hash Virgins Oleg were introduced by Ak Bars and Ms Yen by Ms Thuy. “Returnees” Mr Dang, Peter, Fot Tret, Iliya, Shaky, Titanic, D&G and SamSon are a few people who didn’t show up last week. With no Sinners, SamSon and Shaky are volunteers to set the trail in the Long Hai Mountains next week - see NEXT RUN box on our homepage.
