MINH DAM / LONG HAI
Hares: Secs, Have-A-Chat, Bull Ant, Mr. T, Chippy
Hash Flashers: Have-A-Chat, Chippy
Ringmaster: Have-A-Chat
Report: Bull Ant
Run 1019 saw a bus full of happy hashers pack and load the eskies and head off (except for the two Hashers so engrossed in a game of pool, they missed the bus) to Long Hai/Minh Dam to complete a trail set by Hares Have a Chat, Bull Ant, Chippy, Mr. T and Secs. Whilst not the longest nor most challenging trial, it still managed to capture all the stunning views, scenery and architecture this region has to offer.

The bus trip itself was longer than usual with the mass exodus of Saigonites leaving Vung Tau after the weekend. After a couple of pick ups from Seaview and Long Hai we arrived at what appeared to be the outskirts of Long Hai where we would disembark.

Once gathered, Secs gave the usual detailed brief and it was on-on. Initially we would navigate our way through the streets heading for Minh Dam mountain. A few hundred metres after hitting the proper trail, there was a detour to a very nice temple complex. The path leading to the temple alone was worth the detour with intricately embedded pebbles and a light covering of moss. Once arriving at the temple, we were hit with disappointment. A party of workers had decided to lay fresh concrete at either end of the path leading to the shrines and views. Whilst a little disappointing, the best views were yet to come.

On-on and back to the trail to make our way to the next viewing point. A few hundred metres on found us at a small set of moss covered steps leading to a breezy partially obscured view. Those that made their way up were rewarded with the cool breeze along with the view.

From here was probably the most challenging part of the day. A trek through some pretty thick jungle to the next viewing point. Once there, Hashers were able to climb the rocks for the best view of the day. Even on a hazy day, the view extended from Ho Tram to Vung Tau and beyond.

On-on and all downhill from here to the Minh Dam car park for the down down. The music played, beer flowed and there were banh mi's a plenty. New Hashers were welcomed, the Hares trail was rated (11 out of 10), Returnees were welcomed back, and this week we had a Sinner! With Big Mac in his shiny new shoes, he proceeded to remove a new shoe and fill it with beer. Much to the delight of the Vietnamese who had never seen a "Shoey" he then drank the beer from his shoe. Well done Big Mac!!

With beer still flowing, it was time to board the party bus and head back to Tommy's. Live music from Perfect Jive Duo, Randy's pizza, Saigon Chill and a visit from Uncle made for a great Down Down Down at the Hash HQ.

All in all, as is always the case, another great day!
