Trail: New Vinfast / Xanh Electric Cars to Tran Phu Hem 444. Up past Quan yin monastery (aka Kannon pagoda), former French gun battery, first food area, then restaurant on tight bend just before large sign: Quán 2 Nghĩa Chuyên các món về gà (“Specializes in chicken dishes”). 
Chalk Talk: Secs: “Back down Hem 444 to gun battery, down stairs behind guns to temple. Through the temple then up via jungle to the rear of the start point (‘Special chicken restaurant’). 3 km circular route, follow red tape.”
Highlights: Gun battery; Quan yin monastery; old military bunker behind special chicken restaurant; friendly staff: many happy faces and lots of tasty food!
Special interest: ‘Quan âm tịnh viện’ is Vietnamese for ‘Quan yin monastery’. Quan yin (Chinese: Guanyin) is a Bodhisattva: “One who is able to reach nirvana but delays doing so through compassion for suffering beings”; hence usually called ‘Goddess of Mercy’. 
Down Down: Special chicken restaurant (see “Trail” above).
Refreshments: Bia Saigon, softies, water, BBQ chicken, sticky rice, congee, glass noodles.
