Additional photos: Radio Wave Ring Master: Basil Report: Basil Today’s weather is hot as we gather at Hon Ru Ri restaurant (previous called Sao Bien 4). Hash Virgin Pavel arrived first with Mr Thanh, a returnee. We also saw Radio Wave’s family and he told us they had a “complete set” of family attending today, so are now “back online” with Vung Tau Hash! Everyone arrived on time, so we loaded the bus and headed off to Dinh Mountain. Even the bus driver was the same one who took us there last week! While newcomer Pavel looked out to see the city, we found out that he only came to Vung Tau three weeks ago, so we help him see where to shop. We go up the mountain and see groups of people exercise as we drive by. We wave at them and then the passengers on another bus wave at us as we walk to the coffee shop for Chalk Talk. We start the chalk talk but unfortunately, the Hares SamSon and Shaky aren’t with us today but they let Faulty Brakes, Flying Finn and Basil handle things because they are the ones who saw the marker tape last week. So when we go in the open road with red tape, we turn right into the jungle with dry river bed, it almost like a scene from “Indiana Jones”! As we coming to the open space area, it is time to climb the mountain. First, we walk under the fallen bamboo trees, then climb up to some rocks, with assistance from veteran Hashers Radio Wave and Faulty Brakes, also need to avoid misstep and jumping. Then it is a walk up to “lone tree hill”, with very careful proceeding because from the nature, rock and tree help us go forward to the cement road that indicate the challenge is over. We are now just strolling back to the bus as Ms Lan and Ms Chuyen took some photos, followed up by Radio Wave taking a group photo, and Hashers Harry and Louis catching xe oms down the mountain! As we walk to the bus where San Miguel waiting and delicious snack from the foodie, Mother Teresa, all while Hashers being observed by a big crow on the tree. The team photo was continuous taking by Radio Wave and his wireless feature. Then Basil put on the chain of honour and the Ring Master’s Hat to start the Circle. After the welcome message, Basil welcomed the Hares Shaky and Samson, but both are not with us today so Basil will Down Down for the missing Hares, and Titanic volunteered to rate the trail. “Challenging”, and “interesting trail”, but he’s visited Dinh Mountain before so ‘only’ 9/10. Welcome Virgin Pavel who join because he saw the ad in Adam & Troy’s bar; Louis works for PVI and was introduced by Returnee Harry; and Ms Vi introduced by Returnee Ms Hoa. We welcome back our Returnees with excuses from Michael for “Lam Viec” (working), Harry and Short Wave for “Study”, Mr Danh “Working”, Ms Hoa “Holiday”, and Sveta “taking care of 2 baby monkeys”! Virgin Pavel was nominated Sinner for inappropriate footwear. Hash Names were given to Ms Lan and Ms Hoa. Ms Lan shall henceforth be known as “Bus Stop” because we always stop at some point to pick her up; and Ms Hoa shall be known as Bambi (from Disney character). Then another announcement for those who weren’t at the Hash last week, that the proposed “far away run” and party at the end of March has been postponed for another time because the venue is fully booked this month. Next week will be local trail on Big Mountain, with hares Faulty Brakes and Flying Finn. We’ll meet again on Sunday at 2 pm for 2.30 pm start at Hon Ru Ri floating restaurant formerly known as Sao Bien 4 – about 30 metres east of the Ho May Park cable car complex on Tran Phu (see website home page for details).
