Hares: Cousin, Basil, Shaky, Alex, Miss Saigon Hash Flash: Mr Hoang Anh. Group and 'linked' photos: Radio Wave Ringmasters: SamSon, SH3 GM Report: Basil Today’s trail is a joint run with Saigon Hash and 49 Hashers join us at Hon Ru Ri for the ride to Minh Dam Secret Zone. We quickly drive to Minh Dam, because there are many cars and motorbikes who have the same idea because today is National Holiday. We manage to arrive safety as Saigon Hash already waiting at Monkey Pagoda. Then finally the two Hash groups meet, and Saigon Hash have 50 Hashers so today we got nearly 100 Hashers for the joint run. As the groups come together for the souvenir photo, our presence attracts more Vietnamese locals as they wonder why so many foreigners here. Hares Basil and Alex explain the trail would lead to the Big Rock for pictures and another one in the Temple for Million Dollar views. Vung Tau Hash use red tape but Saigon Hash tied 2 red tapes for another way if someone wanted more challenge. Then “On On” to the temple. Monkey Pagoda is famous for lots of monkeys but it seems they nowhere to be found today, so we think maybe so many Hashers scare them away. As we climb the stairs to the big rock, one Saigon Hasher was unable to continue for not used to mountain climb and headed down to find the bus. Hare Shaky decided to go with her because he worry about the bus not being there once she coming down, but she is Vietnamese so she assure Shaky that she can take care of herself for not getting lost! We turn the corner to climb the mountain and we finally saw the monkeys on the trees, with Vietnamese tourists observing and giving them fruit, it was a good sight. We stop at one third of the trail, because some Hash Virgins and Saigon Hash was tired, some are not used to climbing mountains. However, because of time limits, Basil motivated them to try at least reach half way, then the Hares might help more. We were followed by three teenagers, but as soon as some Hashers was taking rest, Hares Shaky and Basil help them and allow the teenagers to overtake. As we reach half way of the trail, SamSon has to take care a lot of Hashers because they can’t take it anymore, including kids. So for their safety, SamSon and Shaky will lead these Hashers a shortcut way to the Down Down while Basil will lead anyone who wish to continue the trail. We are relieved to finally reach the big rock, where is the view of the sea. Hashers took chance for some photos and finally headed down the mountain. Hare Alex was waiting and asked Basil the situation because a lot of their Hashers still hadn’t come down the mountain, and Basil explained why. We continue coming out of the forest and Hare Miss Saigon is waiting at the turning point. He show the trail down the mountain for the Down Down and the trail up the mountain for a second mountain view. We all make it back to Minh Dam car park for our cold San Miguel beer is waiting. At this point, Saigon Hash bus was nowhere to be found while some Saigon Hashers already at the Down Down, so Vung Tau Hashers share their drinks. About 15 minutes later, Saigon Hash Bus finally arrive with their San Miguel beer. Most Hashers decided to check Minh Dam museum while waiting for the rest of Hashers to arrive. Then SH3 GM wanted to do a joint Circle, so Basil agreed and we started the Circle with VTH3 Ringmaster SamSon and GM from Saigon Hash. A welcome message and thank you for the joint run, everyone is happy to see Hashes from both cities together in this week’s trail, set by joint Hares. We invited Vung Tau Hares Basil, Shaky and Cousin and Saigon Hares Alex and Miss Saigon into the Circle. And volunteer to rate the trail from Saigon Hashers. "A job well done by all Hares, the scenery is beautiful, and the rock boulder was excellent; however, not enough challenge...", so they give 6.9/10 for this week’s joint run. We welcomed Hash Virgins Noi from Thailand, Simon from Scotland, two Ms Nhung, Mr Huynh and Mr Luan with kid; no Virgins from Saigon Hash, so we show Vung Tau Hash welcome tradition. Then punishment for Saigon Hash by their GM. The Hares supposed to make sure the bus with their drinks make it to the Down Down; however, it was late so the Hares must be punished! Then from Vung Tau Hash, Returnees Gary, Ms Banana and The Gardener with excuses “Vietnam Holiday”, Radio Wave and Short Wave for “Lazy” and two from Saigon Hash as “Holiday” with only one "tube of shame" for Saigon Hash. Finally, Vung Tau Hash present a Hash T-Shirt to Saigon Hash as a token of today’s joint run and likewise Saigon Hash give 3 badges for the mismanagement team SamSon, Basil and Shaky. Because of Saigon Hash time limits, we ended the circle with announcements from both sides. From Saigon Hash that next week, Sunday May 8th, SH3 will hold a Live Hare run in Dinh Mountain because they like it there and Vung Tau Hash is welcome to join. And from Vung Tau Hash, a charity run will be held mid-June for International Children’s Day. And with that we say goodbye to Saigon Hash for a fun day; we hope to do something like this again once a year. We’ll meet again on Sunday at 2 pm for 2.30 pm start at Hon Ru Ri floating restaurant (formerly known as Sao Bien 4). On On! VTH3 #731 PHOTO GALLERY > > >
