As departure time came, Basil led the group to Hem 89 and up to Vi Ba street for the Chalk-Talk. He explained the trail started going on the sealed road, past the monkey pagoda and sugar-cane coffee shop, up the broken road to near the top of the mountain, then go over the side by red marker tape and down the dirt track around the mountain, then all Down Down at Hon Ru Ri. A warning that the rain in the first hour might cause the dirt trail to be slippery, so proceed with caution. Also, locals warn that during rainy season, snakes come out near the waterfall. As we “On-On” up the sealed road, we passed the monkey pagoda and junior Hasher Vi spotted a monkey which prompted fellow junior Hasher Messi to want to shake the monkey’s hand. Realising Messi had no food to give, the monkey chased Vi and Messi away. Once we arrived at the sugar-cane coffee shop, some Hashers decided to take a break to buy sugar-cane juice, while Basil waited patiently at the red tape leading down the mountain. We climb around the mountain carefully, with stronger men Hashers helping the Ladies and junior Hashers and returnee Robert supported older Hasher “Bunny”. We walked to the waterfall but despite all the rain yesterday and first hour today, there were no water, which was disappointing; we help junior Hasher Vi get rid of the millipedes since she afraid those creatures. We come out of the undergrowth and saw the beautiful scene of front beach and we all take lots of pictures. We finally coming to the “crossroads” area and headed down the mountain. We saw lots of teenagers went back up the mountain and lots of kids thought these teens went to the mountain because they playing Pokemon GO. As we safely down the sealed road and walk back to Hon Ru Ri, Bunny’s group take the road of the under construction museum. The ladies were surprised to saw a small long green snake near the edge of the wall but, with sudden scream from the ladies, the snake go away disappear under the other side of the wall! We reach safety at the Down Down where the San Miguel beer waiting and lots of exciting experience things to tell. We hold the group picture with today Hash Flash Grozny II, and then the Circle by Ringmaster Basil. First, we advise junior Hashers that ice water shower is a No-No, but ankle-height water is alright, since we don’t want people get a cold or mechanic damage to their phones, etc. After the welcome message and round of applause for dedicated Hashers, Basil coming in the middle of the Circle as Co-Hare and Veteran Hasher Bunny was selected to rate the trail. “Nice work-out day” and she award 8/10 for this trail. We welcome Hash Virgin Ms Dung, introduced by Diamonds. We also welcome back returnee Robert with reason “Staying in Saigon to study Vietnamese,” so he gets the special “sinners” cup made by Radio Wave. We now bring in Andrey and Robert for their 6th run hashtags: for Andrey, “Tall Tree” since he is v.tall; Robert is called “Big Bird”. And finally announce next week’s trail is on small mountain (Lighthouse Hill) and Basil is volunteer as live Hare (STOP PRESS FRIDAY: Uncle and Cap St Jacques have volunteered to mark the trail today). Not confirmed yet, but the following week probably Minh Dam Secret Zone to a lookout point we haven’t visited for a long time. We'll meet at Hon Ru Ri next Sunday, as usual: 2 pm for 2.30 pm start - in any weather! On On! VTH3 #746 PHOTO GALLERY GPS trace and trail info courtesy Cap St Jacques:
