Hares: Uncle, Cap St Jacques Hash Flash: Fot tret Ringmaster: Basil Report: Uncle We departed Hon Ru Ri under sunny skies for the 1.5 km hike around the Front Beach Park to Mr Ket, then behind the row of shops, bars, restaurants and hotels to the pagoda steps opposite house 2/2. A chalk-talk from co-Hare Uncle, and then it was up the 200+ pagoda steps and into the undergrowth with more steps until a sharp left turn up the hill to eventually climb (with help from CSJ) onto what used to be our familiar dirt road, but is now freshly sealed between the Army camps. Right along the sealed road to enjoy the stunning views of Vung Tau Bay and Big Mountain, then continue on the stony track at the end of the sealed section after it does a righthand hairpin down to Halong (our way down). Eventually reaching a set of stone steps on the left, we ascended for a while until they merged into medium density undergrowth and the red eco-marker tape became our "signposts" to the left of the bia hoi's on the side of the sealed road to the Lighthouse. Right turn and up to the Lighthouse to share more stunning scenery - this time of the city and Back Beach - with many locals and tourists. Once everyone was accounted for, we started the descent down through the medium density undergrowth behind the Bia Hoi's to the junction of sealed "Army" road and narrower hem down to Mr Ket. Then repeat the 1.5 km hike back around Front Beach to Hon Ru Ri where the eskies where waiting! Ringmaster Basil called the team photo and Circle as the skies suddenly threatened rain, and Lady D volunteered to rate the trail. "It had all the elements - 10/10" was the verdict, with Lady D joining co-Hares Uncle and Cap St Jacques to graciously accept the offer of free beer for a Down Down! Hash Virgins Hoang and Ms Khoi were introduced, along with sponsors Shaky and Ms Tam. Then Returnees Huong Giang (Princess' daughter) and Blackhawk were welcomed back. No time for sinners this week because the rain had already started! Basil announced that next week's trail will be an Away run to be confirmed (we're contemplating the trail to the lookout rock behind the nun and monks' houses in Minh Dam Secret Zone, but August is a busy month for buddhist worship activity and it might be safer to avoid any possible congestion at pagodas until September). As always, watch the NEXT RUN box for confirmation later this week (after we get the promised report from Minh Dam). We'll meet at Hon Ru Ri next Sunday, as usual: 2 pm for 2.30 pm start - in any weather! On On! VTH3 #747 PHOTO GALLERY VTH3 #747 GPS TRACE AND DATA COURTESY CAP ST JACQUES:
