Circle photos: Uncle, Andy, Tommy Ringmaster: SamSon Report: Uncle It was strong sunshine as we gathered at Hon Ru Ri to register for the Lego trail, sharing the café area with many tourists and holidaymakers on this long weekend "Reunification" holiday. Kojak and then Aurora managed to catch the pack as we departed for Hem 89 and up to Vi Ba for the chalk talk – total 27 Hashers today. Hare Uncle explained short-cuts up the mountain and short-cuts coming down, so if anyone was feeling tired they had several options. There was also a rest stop at the nước mía (sugar cane juice) stalls near the end of the sealed part of Vi Ba, outside the army camp. On On we went down Vi Ba, then left at the "M90 house" and along the narrow trail ignoring the red marker hung high in the trees by a local mischief-maker (not the Hare!). Someone has also painted arrows and other signs on the road, but we don't use paint to mark our trails because it can easily damage the "socially responsible" image we strive to maintain with the local residents and authorities! There were plenty of helping hands for Junior Hashers when we encountered the large rocks where Kojak had once installed ropes (now long gone!). Then the “crossroads” marked by three red tapes, where everyone could decide to turn left down the short-cut or continue straight on around the mountain and under the cable cars (aka “Waterfall trail”). It was an enjoyable stroll/hike/run with views across the bay, then down the broken part of Vi Ba to the army camp and nước mía stalls for a quick "sugar hit" before continuing down Vi Ba, past the monkey pagoda and either short-cut through the White House (President Trump not in residence today!) or Hem 89 and back to Hon Ru Ri. Plenty of refreshments awaited the weary Hashers and much socialising took place (bordered by hordes of tourists taking advantage of HRR's delightful waterfront ambience). We eventually took the team photo, and SamSon convened the Circle with deputy Ringmaster and honorary GM Astrogirl. Hare Uncle was called into the Circle and Tommy rated the Lego trail 10/10! (Interesting to note that of the 3 options to go up the mountain and 3 to come down, a total of 5 options were used today – with only the easiest, "on up" via Vi Ba, not used!) Hash Virgin Ms Hương and Virgin/Visitor Simon were welcomed (two other HVs, Mr Quang and Ms Phuong, had returned to HCMC early to avoid holiday transport problems); then Returnees UFO, Kamila, Ms Thao, Mr Tuong, Ms Mận – with UFO giving a superb demonstration of drinking beer with the "Tube of Shame"! No Sinners today(!) but Uncle nominated 12 year-old returnee Mận as “Hasher of the Week” for persevering down the broken Vi Ba section wearing soft tennis shoes folded at the back to help cushion the pain – a courageous effort, and well deserved mention! Finally, Radio Wave's "lens of honour" was awarded to today's Hash Flash, Uncle, for summary disposal of the contents! It will be an away trail next week, details to be confirmed, so keep an eye on the NEXT RUN box for updates. We'll meet again on Sunday, as always, at Hon Ru Ri: 2 pm for 2.30 pm start. On On!
