Team and Circle photos: Kojak Ringmaster: Basil Report: Basil We all gathered again at Hon Ru Ri with cloud covering the sun and promising a pleasant run as we welcomed 27 Hashers today. We all walked across Front Beach to Mr Ket near Small Mountain, with lots of locals and traffic police watching our progress. When everyone gathered at Mr Ket, co-Hare Faulty Brakes gave his chalk-talk: "A simple run to the hill and co-Hare Sec will lead Hashers to reach the lighthouse, while co-Hare Hot Lips will lead any SCBs (short-cutters) back to Hon Ru Ri". As we walk up to where Sec is waiting, a devotee walked his pet, a Dalmation, and it was plainly curious as to what the Hashers were up to. We all walked up the hill as heavy wind blowing and slight rain which cooled Hashers at the same time. All the recent rain made the mountain overgrown with grass and mosquitos, but Basil had brought repellent to share with anyone who hadn’t read the NEXT RUN column on our website ("Don’t forget: sunscreen, insect repellent, water, sturdy shoes, etc"). When we reached the coffee shop at the top, Basil bought Junior Hasher Man some of the shop’s specialty: Yogurt, to reward her for making it all the way to the top of the mountain. While others busy to take photos at the lighthouse, we headed back down the mountain and Hon Ru Ri; by this time the rain had stopped, so it was a pleasant walk. When the last Hashers had arrived at HRR and quenched their thirst with our cold San Miguel beers, Basil started the team photo and after that, the Circle. After the welcome message, Hares Faulty Brakes, Sec and Hot Lips were invited into the Circle and they nominated Bryce to rate the trail; he gave 7.5/10 and the Circle agreed. Good job Hares! We then brought in the Hash Virgins: Irina from Ukraine who has only been in Vung Tau for about 4 weeks; Mr Nam who came to Vung Tau half a year ago; and Mr Tuan who now works here. All were welcomed to VTH3! Then Returnees: Ida, Kojak’s daughter, who has been studying in Denmark; and Stubble, working in Malaysia; we welcomed them back. Then Sinners: Junior Hasher Khanh and Ms Van with inappropriate footwear, and (recently returned) co-Hare Hot Lips because he was still suffering from being attacked by mosquitos when helping to set the trail yesterday! And finally, a gift from Uncle to the Astro Family – a framed photo montage with all family members on several different Hash runs – for good luck and something to remember us by while living in Italy from the end of this month; but “we will see you again” when you come back and visit us! Next week should be an away trail, and we need some volunteers to set it, so watch the website NEXT RUN box for more details through the week. We’ll meet again on Sunday, as always, at Hon Ru Ri: 2 pm for 2.30 pm start. On On! VTH3 #788 PHOTO GALLERY (CIRCLE PHOTOS COURTESY KOJAK) ADDITIONAL "IDA & THE LIGHTHOUSE" PHOTOS COURTESY KOJAK
