LONG HAI

Hares: Flying Finn, Slipper
Hash Flashers: Shomit, Radio Wave, Flying Finn
Ringmasters: Boozer
Report: Boozer

We welcomed 37 Hashers to the run this week starting at the base of Minh Dam mountain near Long Hai.  Flying Finn, who set the trail, gave a motivating chalk talk where he explained the trail was straight up the mountain with millions of red tape markers to follow with no chance to turn the wrong way or get lost.
The trail was a straight walk up the road, join a track heading to the base of the mountain, then steps to the first ridge line and then a path like the yellow brick road that led to Minh Dam Base where the down down was to be held.
All the excited hashers set off up the main road seeking the path that lead to the steps, it was a hot sunny day and very quickly we all got hot and sweaty.
After a brief stroll through the flatlands and dense bush we reached the step at the base of the mountain and the summit could be seen towering above us.
With trepidation and excitement we commenced the ascent up the steps. After a speedy start we reached the halfway mark of the ascent where we stopped for a breather and to wave goodbye to some hashers who turned back beaten by the steps ever increasing gradient.
It was getting hot, everyone was sweaty, smelly and rancid but the motivated hashers set off again up the steps heading to the first ridge line but at a much steadier pace.
With relief after a 30-minute climb we reached the ridge line where we were faced with choice turn left or turn with no tape insight it was a gamble.  With a moan and a grunt (new hash names) some hashers turned left, and some turned right.
The lucky hashers who turned right made it to Minh Dam Base where ice cold San Miguel was waiting and those who turned left ended up in Don Hai town 3km away from the down down site.
Boozer opened the circle with a rousing welcome to Run 819, welcoming all participants from all countries who have a common passion, Hashers desperate for a drink and drinkers desperate for a hash.
Hares, Flying Finn and Slipper, joined the circle where they were heartily thanked for setting a beautiful trail by the refreshed merry hashers.  A rousing score of 10 out of 10 as awarded from an unnamed Virgin (rare thing these days).
This week we had 8 virgins attending from Russia and Vietnam.
As the rule is a Hasher must be absent six consecutive weeks or more we had no Returnees.
This week we had three Sinners with sins ranging from; I stubbed my toe on the bed head, so I could not walk for three weeks (Radio Wave); I’m so beautiful it’s a sin to be on the hash (Faulty Brakes); and the third Sinner a Copy Cat who could not think of an original sin, copied Faulty Brakes and said he was beautiful. After a quick vote amongst the beautiful array of ladies at the down down an average score of 3 out of 10 was awarded to Faulty Brakes and Copy Cat for their stunning lack of beauty.
Dashed Faulty Brakes and Copy Cat drowned their sorrows with more icy cold San Miguel beer from our sponsor.
Mother Teresa & Boozer, who both provided an eclectic array of fresh sandwiches with an international style and flavour which were eagerly woofed down with vigour by the merry band of Hashers.

We’ll meet again on Sunday, as always, at Hon Ru Ri:  1 pm for 1.30 pm start - in any weather!
On On!
