Nui Dinh - "A Tale Of Two Trails"
Hares: Mr. T, Secs,
Hash Flashers: Radiowave, Secs Ringmaster: Boozer Report: Faulty Brakes
At Hon Ru Ru 41 hashers boarded our hashmobile to head northwards to BaRia and Nui Dinh. There was a choice of 2 trails, one relatively easy by VTH3 standards and one which entailed a visit to 3 temples across across the top of the mountain range and considered tough.
These trails were set the previous Thursday by Secs, Mr T, Cleaver and the ever reliable Faulty Brakes. The forest trail group started at the end of the tarmacadam road, a popular Down Down location when we visit this area, proceeding down the road before turning left across the stream into the forest path. It wasn’t long before the heavens opened and despite a drenching everyone enjoyed this forest path which eventually led us to the lake and coffee shop before returning to our bus location. The other trail was a different kettle of fish, starting up the steep concrete path straight to Temple 1 with various forays into jungle and with spectacular views of the surrounding countryside and taking in two further temples before arriving at the Down Down location. The First hashers arrived home after 90 minutes and continued to come in up to 150 minutes later and for everyone who completed this arduous trail, give yourself huge pat on the back, congratulations well done! Now it was time for the Down Down when everyone enjoyed our Sponsors generosity and downed copious quantities of Refreshing Sam Miguel and tasty Banh Mi to compensate for the previous exertions that afternoon. Today was the birthday of Buddha our Beer Doctor and was duly celebrated with a large cake and everyone wished him well and with a chorus of Happy Birthday and Ringmaster Simon smearing Bazzer’s handsome face with cream set the tone for showtime. The Virgins, Returnees, Sinners and Hares were given their punishments for various misdemeanours. The Ringmaster proceeded to entertain our hashers with music and song and because of the now fading light it was time board our bus and head for home. Zidane our musicologist had his music ready for our return journey, with hits from various decades and cultures including Russian Vietnamese and English, this disco bus had a surreal feel about it, and with one pit stop on the way, everyone appeared to have enjoyed another great day with VTH3. Dropping off our Russian comrades at the Russian village and then back to base at Hon Ru Ri unloading our eskies and finishing today’s hash somewhat later than usual. Next week will be a home trail, remember to register before Sunday, this enables us to ascertain how much food to buy.
